Welcome to the Black Buoy, a 300-year-old inn close to the River Colne, purchased by a local consortium in 2013, restored and re-opened as a Free House. Behind its quaint brick frontage you will find a warm welcome and characterful setting, with roaring fires, beamed ceilings, wooden floors and echoes of the pub’s nautical history.
Following the success and the popularity of our food, we have now decided to open our kitchen seven days a week. The new service will begin on Monday 14th of April.
As a freehold pub, we offer a range of bespoke real ales, guest ales and beers. We serve excellent British pub food which is all home-cooked by our chef and our in-house baker. The wine list contains fascinating choices from near and far, with something to suit all palates. High-quality fresh coffee and a good range of soft drinks are available too.
The Captains’ Room, seating up to ten people, can be booked for private dining and meetings. A terraced garden with outdoor seating will be in full bloom by Spring 2014. We welcome cyclists – there is an undercover storage area for bikes. Well-behaved children and dogs are welcome in certain parts of the pub. For anyone who needs to get online, there’s free WiFi access too.
